Kent Station presents Moolah for Schoolah scholarship fundraiser

Kent Station hosts its annual college scholarship fundraiser – Moolah for Schoolah – for Green River College students throughout March.

Kent Station began the program in 2007 to provide scholarships to Kent graduates attending GRC and has since provided 39 scholarships totaling $52,500 in funding to students who might not be able to afford college otherwise.

During the month, Kent Station customers can participate by completing a Moolah for Schoolah postcard, available at all participating merchants. For each postcard completed, Kent Station will donate $1 to the Kent Station-Green River College Scholarship Fund.

Sumandeep Grewal was one of the 2016 scholarship recipients.

“I am planning to take prep courses such as the sciences and math as I plan to get into pre-med,” Grewal said. “I recently had a great amount of interest in pursuing a career as an orthopedic surgeon since I have always loved helping people. Thanks to you, this scholarship is going to help me get closer to the goal of me being able to help others. By awarding me this scholarship, you have played a key role in providing financial assistance to cover my education expenses. This inspires me even more to give back to the community.”

In addition, for each postcard completed, Kent Station customers will have the opportunity to win one of 10 prizes, including a $500 grand prize shopping spree at the Station, plus gift cards ranging from $25 to $100. Customers can enter once per merchant during the month, giving them more than 50 chances to win. The prize winners will be selected at random on April 7.

Harborstone Credit Union at Kent Station donated to the promotion, helping to offset the costs and helping to make it possible to reach our goal of donating $5000.

“Kent Station is always excited when Moolah for Schoolah kicks off.” said Cynthia Boyd, Kent Station marketing manager. “It is wonderful to see the community get involved in helping our local students by participating in the promotion. We are always proud of our partnership with Green River College and the Green River College Foundation.”
