The Meridian Belle II is ready to roam the waters of Lake Meridian in Kent.

Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke helped the Lake Meridian Community Association launch the rebuilt boat June 4.

The community association received a $15,000 matching grant last year from the city of Kent Neighborhood Council program to help fund the project to rebuild the boat that had fallen into disrepair and hadn't been used for a few years.

Now the Meridian Belle II will lead the Fourth of July boat parade at the lake and be available to rent by Lake Meridian Community Association members for dinner parties and other occasions.

The boat includes a paddlewheel and a double deck and can hold about 20 people.
