Kent refugee students participate in state conference

March 30, 2012 · 2:59 PM

On March 24, 16 refugee students spent their Saturday in Tacoma with state officials, parents, and students from other parts of the state talking about English Language Learning (ELL) and parent engagement.

The purpose of the conference, Strengthening Education for English Language Learners, was for participants to make suggestions about how education programs can be improved for ELL students and their families. Those who attended also discussed how their cultural groups can help the state and school districts implement these changes.
