Kent Animal Shelter to host pet-adoption event
June 18, 2008 · Updated 11:12 AM
Hundreds of dogs and cats will be available for adoption at the third annual Super Pet Adopt-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the King County Kent Animal Shelter, 21615 64th Ave. S.
Animal shelters and rescue groups from across the state will bring hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats of all ages, sizes and breeds to the shelter, according to a King County Animal Care and Control media release. Residents will be able to get up close and personal with dozens of pets looking for a permanent home.
In addition to the adoptable cats and dogs, the one-stop adoption event will feature a variety of pet professionals on hand to offer advice and answer questions about bringing a new furry friend into the family. King County dog and cat licenses will be available all day. Microchipping will be provided on-site.
The Super Pet Adopt-a-thon replaced King County’s Annual Pet Adopt-a-thon in 2006. The Pet Adopt-a-thon began in 1996 to draw attention to the large numbers of companion animals available for adoption at local shelters. By pooling resources at one event, participating agencies are able to connect more people with pets in need in a shorter period of time.
