Navpreet “Navi” Kaur and Dahir “DJ” Jigre were selected as the Rotary Club of Kent’s Students of the Month in the athletics category.

Both are students at Kent-Meridian High School.

Kaur, daughter of Tarnjit Singh, is involved with the school volleyball and track teams and also participates in yearbook, the multicultural assembly and the Indian Club.

Her community activities involve work fundraising for volleyball and track, including car washes, ad sales and camps for elementary, middle school and freshmen students.

After high school, Kaur plans on attending Gonzaga University where she will take courses toward becoming a lawyer.

Jigre is the son of Khadar Jigre and Hibo Mohamud and is a big part of Kent-Meridian’s cross country and track teams. This past weekend, Jigre took ninth at the sub-district meet at Fort Steilacoom Park. He will compete at the district meet this weekend in Tacoma. Along with sports, Jigre focuses on his school work and working on the weekends at Wendy’s.

After high school, Jigre said he plans on attending Washington State University to study computer engineering.
