Friday's dessert show supports Rainier Youth Choirs
For the Reporter
Take a trip down memory lane during Rainier Youth Choirs' Threads of the Past dessert show at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 19800 108th Ave. SE, Kent.
The evening of entertainment, desserts and raffle baskets raises money for the Kent and Covington community-based Rainier Youth Choirs, a nonprofit, choral music education and performance program.
Rainier Youth Choirs is composed of three choirs filled with talented local youth, who are led by Leora Schwitters, RYC founder and artistic director. The young entertainers will treat the audience to renditions of Andrews Sisters music, a barbershop quartet, a Seussical medley, "Les Mis" music, Bohemian Rhapsody, songs from the '30s, even ballroom dancing.
Several RYC members are also accomplished instrumentalists and will provide incidental music.
Voices 4, an adult vocal jazz quartet that carries on the tradition and repertoire of great swing vocal groups, will perform some jazz favorites. Also from Kent, they are members of the Rainier Chorale and perform at various events and venues in the area.
Tickets are $25 ticket with proceeds supporting the RYC program. Seating is limited. Purchase your tickets soon at rainieryouthchoirs.org.
