Earth Day event set for Earthworks Park
April 9, 2010 · 10:23 AM
Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day from 7-8:30 p.m. April 22 at Millcreek Canyon Earthworks Park, 742 E. Titus St. in Kent.
The event, sponsored by the Kent Arts Commission, includes an environmental art installation of a river of yarn by artist Mandy Greer, creating hands-on art with environmental artist Kristin Tollefson, the music of the Paul Rucker Quintet, and a performance by acornDance at sundown.
The evening will end with the release of luminarias in the double-ring pond.
Organizers chose Earthworks Park for the Earth Day event because the park is recognized internationally as one of the earlier works of environmental art.
