Thank you, firefighters

Sending a very big thank you to the Kent Fire Department for their assistance in recently getting our American flag back up on the pole in front of Harrison House in downtown Kent.

During one of our recent high windstorms, the rope was snapped on our flagpole and down came the flag.

We were told there was no money in the budget to hire a company with equipment tall enough to restring a new rope.

Harrison House is an apartment building with many residents who are veterans or have lost a loved one in wartime. So our patriotism runs deep.

In an attempt to find someone to help us get “Old Glory” back on the pole, we contacted the Kent Fire Department for help.

They came with a ladder truck and, in no time, they had the flag flying again.

This is one example of the way the fire department helps not only Harrison House residents, but many people in Kent.

So thank you again.

Vote yes on Proposition 1.

– Carolee Adams, Harrison House resident
