Volunteers are wanted to help out with the Severe Weather Shelter that opens at Kent Lutheran Church during life-threatening conditions between November and March.
Anyone interested in serving can attend a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Kent Lutheran, 336 Second Ave. S. Volunteers can learn about how to serve in the shelter. The evening also will feature speakers from Real Change who have gone from homelessness to housing. Past volunteers are also welcome.
Volunteers and one Catholic Community Services employee run the shelter. Volunteers come from area churches, business and community leaders and neighbors. These volunteers are notified digitally of needs.
