Get your sneakers ready because it’s almost time for the annual Seahawks 12K Run at the Landing.

The event, which is in its ninth year, will be held Sunday, April 15 and will include a 12K run, a 5K run/walk, a non-competitive half-mile Kids Run and a block party with free games, activities and entertainment.

A portion of this year’s race proceeds will benefit Pete Carroll’s “A Better Seattle” (ABS) initiative, according to a press release. ABS funds and supports the deployment of the YMCA of Greater Seattle’s Alive & Free program. This program provides trained street outreach workers to serve youth impacted by gangs, violence and the juvenile justice system in South King County.

THE ROUTE

The Seahawks 12K Run is an out-and-back route that will start at The Landing, continue run north along the Southeast shore of Lake Washington and offer participants a unique opportunity to run around the Seahawks’ training facility, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, before turning back to run south along Lake Washington Boulevard and finish at The Landing. This is a USATF certified course.

The GLOW 5K Run/Walk route is a flat, fast 3.1 mile route that winds through The Landing then heads south into surrounding Renton neighborhoods.

The Seahawks Play60 Kids Run is approximately one-third of a mile that starts by running through a giant Seahawks inflatable helmet at The Landing and finishes across the same finish line as the 5K and 12K runs. Registered Kids Run participants will receive a T-shirt and a Kids Run bracelet.
