Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra’s summer camp filling up fast
June 20, 2011 · 3:30 PM
Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra’s popular summer camp is filling up fast.
This camp is a bargain at only $25.
"We offer this at a super low cost so that finances cannot be a factor for not participating. We want every young musician to have the opportunity for a great music camp experience,” Elisa Lewis said, executive director of the symphony.
This year’s camp theme is “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” and features movie music of your favorite heroes, villains and monsters. Camp will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 -12 at Maple Valley Presbyterian Church.
There is a culminating concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 open to the public. The camp will provide a large group playing experience, ensemble experience, coaching and more.
New this year, the orchestra is having a specialized program running simultaneously during camp for students with one school year to two years of playing experience. These students will have their own orchestra specialist to help them play along with the more experienced students. Each student will go home with a camp t-shirt.
