Veterans Day events coming up in Kent

• A flag ceremony to honor Civil War veterans buried in Saar Pioneer Cemetery is slated for 3 p.m. Nov. 9. Five Civil War veterans lie buried in the tiny cemetery, which is tucked next to WinCo at the corner of South 212th Street and State Route 167 in Kent. The flag ceremony is presented by the South King County Genealogical Society, Boy Scout Troop No. 402, the Puget Sound Civil War Round Table and Kent American Legion Post No. 15. • A Veterans Day Ceremony will take place 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent. The event includes an introduction by Gov. Christine Gregoire and an address by guest speaker Al Zarb. Command Sgt. Maj. Bill Graham will serve as master of ceremonies. Soos Creek Elementary School Choir will sing at the ceremony.
