February 18, 2011 · Updated 6:44 PM
Valley Medical Center has scheduled six public meetings where the public can get information and ask questions about the proposed strategic alliance with UW Medicine.
The medical center’s Board of Commissioners recently approved a letter of intent that allows executives with Valley and UW Medicine to work out the details of the alliance.
Under the alliance, Valley Medical Center would affiliate with UW Medicine, which has similar arrangements with Northwest Hospital in Seattle. Also part of UW Medicine are Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
Public Hospital District No. 1 would continue to own the medical center and all its assets.
