Kent Police will run a community informational meeting for people to learn about the recent registration of a Level 3 sex offender in the downtown area.
Kent Police will host the meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S.
Bennett J. Reedy was recently released and is now monitored and living in a clean and sober house. Reedy’s previous criminal history places him as a Level 3 classification. This status reflects a high risk of re-offense. Reedy, 51, was convicted of third-degree rape in 1994.
Kent Police encourage people to attend this meeting to raise safety awareness and to reassure the public that the police are making every effort to keep the community educated about offenders such as Reedy.
Members of the department will be available at the meeting to answer questions and take input regarding specific concerns.
“The Kent Police Department believes that the community and police must work together to stay informed and to keep our city safe," said detective Melanie Frazier. "We believe that an informed public is a safer public.”
