Alexis Bates served as a page recently in the Washington State Senate in Olympia.

Bates was sponsored by Sen. Karen Keiser, D-Kent.

"Alexis is curious and has a sincere drive to learn," Keiser said. "It is so encouraging to see students like Alexis take such an interest in Washington issues."

Bates said that she was fascinated by the bill process and would like to learn a more about it.

"I've enjoyed being a page so much," she added, "I wish I could do it again."

Bates plays soccer, basketball and softball at school. She says between her sports, school and homework she doesn't have a lot of free time, but when she does she spends it hanging out with her friends.
