Kent-Meridian High School will play host to a debate between the two candidates vying for the top education job in the state.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Terry Bergeson and challenger Randy Dorn are both scheduled to attend a debate at the school's East Wing Auditorium Tuesday.

The event is hosted by the Minority Executive Directors Coalition and the Equitable Opportunity Caucus.

The event is co-sponsored by the South King County Council of Human Services.

Bergeson was elected in 2004 to her third term as superintendent. Dorn is a former teacher and principal as well as a former member of the Washington State Legislature.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute social hour and the debate is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. It will be the final debate between the candidates before the election.
