A 97-year-old Renton woman died Thursday from injuries suffered in a two-car accident earlier in the day at the intersection of Southeast 200th Street and the Benson Highway in the Panther Lake area of unincorporated Kent.

Marguerite Carruthers died Thursday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a Washington State Patrol media release. Paramedics transported Carruthers to the hospital after she was injured in the 10:55 a.m. Thursday accident.

Carruthers was a passenger in a 1985 Toyota Camry driven by an 82-year-old Renton woman. Paramedics transported the driver to Valley Medical Center in Renton with undisclosed injuries.

The Toyota Camry was southbound on the Benson Highway when it collided at the Southeast 200th Street intersection with a 2004 Kia Sedona headed northbound in the left turn lane on the Benson.

The driver of the Kia Sedona, a 59-year-old Kent woman, was treated and released at the scene by paramedics.

The State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Both cars were totaled.

The Benson Highway also is known as State Route 515 and 108th Avenue Southeast.
