Ex-Kent Police Chief Skewes dies

Former Kent Police Chief Jay B. Skewes died Feb. 21 in Sequim after a lengthy illness.

Skewes, 71, of Port Angeles, served as the Kent police chief from 1976-84, said Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke, who announced the death of Skewes at the March 2 City Council meeting.

Skewes died at the Olympic Care & Rehabilitation Center in Sequim, according to the Web site of the Drennan & Ford Funeral Home in Port Angeles. No services were held or are planned for Skewes.
