Click It or Ticket: seatbelt emphasis patrols run through June 6 in south King County

Kent Police are participating in the state's Click It or Ticket seat-belt emphasis patrols through June 6.

The patrols are done at night because the traffic death rate is four times higher at night than during the day, according to a Washington Traffic Safety Commission media release.

The fine for failing to wear a seat belt is $124.

Other participating police agencies in the crackdown include Auburn, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Burien, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kent, Maple Valley, Redmond, Renton, SeaTac, Shoreline and the State Patrol.
