King County Sheriff's Office detectives are looking for a man in his mid-20s suspected in the rape of a 21 year-old woman on July 28 in Covington.

The attack occurred just after midnight July 28 near the LA Fitness, 27245 172nd Ave. S.E., according to an Aug. 4 Sheriff's Office media release.

This marks the second reported rape in Covington over the last two weeks. In an unrelated case, detectives are looking for John Alan Carter, 51, who allegedly raped a woman he had known for several years July 26 at a Covington house.

In the most recent case, the woman was walking to her car when she heard someone run up behind her. The suspect grabbed the woman, choked her, and covered her mouth so she couldn’t scream.

The man threatened the woman and then had her to move to an adjacent wooded area where he took money from her wallet and raped her. He then fled northbound on foot toward Southeast 272nd Street.

The victim managed to bite the suspect on the hand, but is not sure if she injured him.

A man fitting the description was seen getting into a red/maroon minivan parked nearby in the former QFC parking lot near the time of the assault, but detectives aren’t sure if the person and vehicle were involved.

The suspect is described as a white male, fair-skinned and in his mid 20s. He is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, medium build with white hairy legs. He had a black nylon-type covering over his head and was wearing a dark, long-sleeved hoodie-style shirt, black basketball shorts, and black tennis shoes with a small amount of red and white trim.
