The Municipal League of King County has recommended that voters approve Proposition 1 and reject Initiative 985, two transportation-related ballot measures in the Nov. 4 general election.

Proposition 1 would fund expanded Sound Transit bus service, commuter rail and light rail over the next 15 years.

Initiative 985 would worsen congestion by opening the region's HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) highway lanes to all traffic and preventing use of revenue from tolls to improve transit, according to the Municipal League.

Details about the League's recommendations are available at www.munileague.org.

The Municipal League describes itself as a non-partisan, volunteer organization advocating open and accountable government. The Municipal League is dedicated to improving the caliber of public officials and the quality of public decisions. For more information see http://www.munileague.org.
