Are you ready to earn money for your club or association this year? Are you ready to get involved with your community? Then now’s the time to get on board with the Kent International Festival.
The free festival – set for May 31 at the ShoWare Center – presents new and varied opportunities to be engaged.
The festival offers many ways to get involved:
• Generations Walking Together: Kent 4Health sponsors the walk from Kent Station at the Green River Community College to the ShoWare Center for people of all ages and cultures. Everyone is encouraged to wear the traditional clothing representing his or her culture.
• Cultural and crafts booths: Show off your cultural roots in one of the booths at the festival and encourage children to learn about your heritage by hosting a youth activity and earning a stamp in their KIF Passport.
• Entertainment: Sing, dance or play an instrument in front of an audience. Submit your application to the coordinator, Nancy Skipton.
• Feature stage: Present illuminating information to the public regarding the history and background of some aspect of your culture or heritage.
• Hand Held Float Building Contest: Are you a high school student with creative and leadership tendencies? Join a team and compete for cash prizes and recognition.
• Taste of International Food Court: A program called Support the Volunteer Group will funnel funds raised at the festival back to the organization that volunteers to help at the food court. A donation will be provided to the organization based on the hours worked.
