A woman staying at Kent’s Red Lion Inn & Suites tried to get into another guest’s room because she believed dead people were inside the room and she had to get in.
A hotel employee called 911 at about 3:58 p.m. March 17 because of a woman yelling in the lobby at staff and guests at the hotel in the 25100 block of 74th Avenue South, according to the Kent Police report. The woman screamed about demons and other things. Officers arrived and talked to the woman and her husband in the lobby.
The woman appeared to settle down, but moments later police were called again when the woman reportedly tried to enter the room of another guest on the second floor.
Officers ran a records check on the woman’s name and discovered the 47-year-old woman had a Kent warrant for criminal trespassing. Police went up to the second floor and asked the woman what she was doing trying to get into a room that wasn’t hers and she responded about dead people being inside the room. When officers took her arm and told her she was under arrest for a warrant, the woman began to struggle with the officers and yelled and cursed at them.
Police forced the woman to the floor so they could handcuff her. As officers walked her out of the hotel, she apparently kicked an officer. Police arrested her for investigation of attempted assault, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.
Ex-boyfriend harasses woman
Police arrested a woman’s former boyfriend for investigation of harassment after he allegedly sent threatening text messages to the woman at her workplace at about 5:05 p.m. March 16.
The woman showed officers the text messages that indicated the man might try to kidnap her, according to the police report. The woman said the ex-boyfriend also had shown up on previous days at her work uninvited after they broke up following a dating relationship.
The man lives in his truck and police tracked him down March 17 in the 26100 block of 79th Avenue South. The man admitted to police he had sent the text messages but claimed he was just joking and wouldn’t try to kidnap the woman.
During a police search of the man, they found a glass pipe with burnt residue, the type of pipe often used to smoke meth. Officers also arrested him for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia along with the harassment incident.
Daughter attacks mother
Officers arrested a woman and her boyfriend for investigation of fourth-degree assault after they each reportedly punched the woman’s mother during a dispute at about 1:14 a.m. March 17 at the Lincoln Park & Ride lot in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue North.
The mother told officers that she had a dispute with her daughter about who was going to drive their vehicle and that her daughter started to punch her, according to the police report. The daughter’s boyfriend allegedly joined in and began to hit the mother as well until he left the area on foot pushing a 7-month-old baby in a stroller.
Witnesses also told police they saw a young woman and a man reportedly hit another woman. Officers found the boyfriend a short distance away along the Interurban Trail. The boyfriend denied he had hit anyone. The mother had a scratch on her face. The daughter tried to claim her mother hit her.
Police released the baby to the boyfriend’s father.
Man speeds through red light
Officers cited a man for investigation of reckless driving after he reportedly ran a red light at a high rate of speed at about 1:39 a.m. March 18 at the intersection of West Meeker Street and 64th Avenue South.
An officer said he was southbound on 64th Avenue South when he saw a car speed out of the 76 station, head southbound on 64th Avenue South and run the red light at West Meeker Street, according to the police report.
The officer pulled the man over as he turned into the Signature Pointe Apartments. The driver told the officer he was mad at life and that he was sorry for running the light.
The officer noted he told the man about the dangers of running a red light at a major intersection before he cited and released him.
