Woman jumps over Green River embankment while fleeing Kent Police

Lands in thorns along bank

The Puget Sound Fire swift water rescue team found a 33-year-old Renton woman with minor injuries along a Green River embankment after she fled from Kent Police.

The incident began at about 10 p.m. Sunday at the Signature Pointe Apartments, 25102 62nd Ave. S., when officers saw a suspicious vehicle with a lone female occupant, according to an email from police spokesman Jarod Kasner.

Officers attempted to contact the woman, who drove away from police through the parking lot.

“It was snowing so her speed was slow,” Kasner said. “When she came to the dead end in the lot, she exited the vehicle and went towards the river to elude the officers and the K9. The female jumped over the embankment and landed in the brambles near the river’s edge.”

The water rescue team responded and brought the woman back up to the parking lot. Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries she suffered from jumping over the embankment, Kasner said.

Officers arrested the woman for two misdemeanor warrants and a felony warrant. Police reportedly found stolen property and documents in her vehicle and continue to investigate the woman’s connection to those items.
