Woman shoves car door into Kent officer | Police Blotter

Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she allegedly opened the driver’s side front door of her car and pushed it into an officer.

An officer stopped the car for making an unsafe lane change at about 11:50 a.m. on Feb. 25 near Second Avenue South and West Harrison Street, according to the police report.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and walked up to the driver’s side door. The driver opened the door and pushed it into the officer, hitting him in the elbow. The officer then requested a second unit to respond to the scene.

Two officers pulled the woman out of the car. She continued to resist and officers put handcuffs on her. Two other women were in the car and told police they had met the driver at the shelter where they were staying.

The driver yelled “Film this, film this,” as officers tried to restrain her. Police placed her into a patrol vehicle as the woman continued to yell at them.

Police also arrested the woman for investigation of DUI, driving while license suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers found a glass pipe in the vehicle.

Man camping illegally

Officers arrested a man for investigation of illegal camping at about 7:20 a.m. on Feb. 23 along the Green River Road in south Kent.

Officers knew the man from previous contacts and arrests in the same area, according to the police report.

Police directed the man to come out of his tent. The man told officers he was upset with them because of their persistent contact with him the prior few days. Police handcuffed him and asked him if he understood his rights. The man replied by calling the officers “—-holes” and said this whole thing is “B.S.”

An officer told the man he had been given more than 48 hours notice to clean up the site and to move. They also had told him not to return to the site, which needed to be cleaned up to restore the forest to its prior condition.

Woman steals jeans

Police arrested a woman for investigation of third-degree theft after she reportedly took jeans and other items from Target, 26301 104th Ave. SE., at about 4:14 p.m. on Feb. 24.

A store loss prevention officer said the woman took a pair of new jeans into a dressing room and came out of the room wearing the new jeans. She then walked out of the store without paying for the jeans, according to the police report.

The woman also put leggings and sneakers into a bag and exited the store without paying for them.

The woman told officers she couldn’t afford to buy the items and had less than one dollar on her. She said she had not showered in a few days and wanted fresh clothes. Police banned the woman from Target for life at the request of store management.

Officers booked the woman at the city jail and released her.

When officers approached the vehicle and talked to the man, he admitted that he had three syringes in his jacket pocket, according to the police report.

Police actually found four syringes on the man. They also found a spoon with burnt residue, three plastic tubes and pieces of tin foil, all items used to take illegal drugs.
