Find out all about the career of former drag racer Jerry "The King" Ruth at a special program Aug. 23 in Kent.

Ruth, a Kent native, will be the focus of a Greater Kent Historical Society presentation from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 in the Rainier Room at Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N.

Ruth will show films of his early career, including footage of racing at Pacific Raceways in Kent. Ruth dominated the Pacific Northwest circuit in the 1960s and 1970s. He won eight divisional Top Fuel titles, including seven straight from 1968-74 and two divisional Funny Car titles.

Tickets are $15 for Kent Historical Society members and $20 for non-members.
