Cassidy Meyers started the final post-season of her wrestling career with a win at the South Puget Sound League girls subregional tournament Feb. 1-2 at Kent-Meridian High.
Meyers, a senior at Kentwood, won a state championship a year ago and looks to win another one this year.
She had byes in the first two rounds, pinned her way into the final of the 124 pound weight class then scored a major decision over Emerald Ridge’s ShaRaya Quinn with a 17-5 victory in the title match.
Meyers told the Reporter in December she hopes to make it to the podium at Mat Classic at the Tacoma Dome in two weeks, but, it would make her even prouder if her younger brothers Dalton, a junior, and Walker, a sophomore, also medaled at the state tournament.
All three Meyers siblings move on to the regional round this weekend at Auburn High School.
