Kent-Meridian's Maggie Hoyman became the first wrestler in school girls program history to capture the South Puget Sound League sub-regional tournament.

Hoyman, a 130-pound senior, took the title at last weekend's showdown at Curtis High School. Hoyman pinned Raquel Gray of Spanaway Lake late in the second period for the crown.

Ana Valdez from Kent-Meridian placed second at 100 pounds.

This weekend the Royals face off in regional bouts at Auburn High School.

Mat Classic is Feb. 15-16 at the Tacoma Dome.
