JESUS VALDEZ
Kent-Meridian
• Grade: Senior.
• Sport: Wrestling.
• Accomplishment: Valdez, one of the area's top wrestlers, moved up a weight class during last Saturday's Decatur Invitational, but it hardly matter. Going at 112 pounds, Valdez cruised to the title, winning the weight class with a 9-3 victory over Auburn Mountainview's Matt Anderson.
• Favorite class: Leadership.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite the varsity cross country team, coach Ammons and coach Paul. I would serve pizza (no marinara) with thick crust.
• Greatest athletic moment: Placing fifth at the state wrestling tournament last winter and being part of Kent-Meridian's cross country team this past fall.
• Most recent book read/author: "Freakonomics" by Steven Levitt.
• What's on your iPod?: "Fireflies" by Owl City.
• Also noted: Valdez, a three-time wrestling state participant, will attend Washington State University next fall on an academic scholarship.
MORGANNE COMSTOCK
Kentlake
• Grade: Senior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Comstock scored a total of 75 points in Kentlake's first three games combined, all of which were Falcon victories.
• Favorite class: Spanish.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: Kylie Huerta, and I would serve her Jolly Rancher popsicles.
• Greatest athletic moment: Freshman year, making it to state. Hopefully we will get back this year.
• What's on your iPod?: Chris Brown.
• Also noted: Comstock will be playing basketball next year at Eastern Washington University. She played this past summer for Jammin' 21 Legends of the Carly Stowell Foundation.
KYLIE HUERTA
Kentwood
• Grade: Junior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Huerta has helped the Conquerors bolt out of the gate with three-straight wins, scoring a total of 64 combined points in wins over Bellevue, Kent-Meridian and Auburn Mountainview.
• Favorite class: Weight training.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Morganne Comstock and serve Jolly Rancher popsicles.
• Favorite movie: "The Blind Side" and "Little Giants."
• Most recent book read/author: "Hoop Dreams" by Ben Joravsky.
• What's on your iPod?: Michael Jackson.
• Also noted: Huerta sports a 3.6 grade-point average, plays basketball for the Carly Stowell Foundation and can bench press 160 pounds.
GARY BELL
Kentridge
• Grade: Junior.
• Sport: Basketball.
• Accomplishment: Bell didn't waste any time getting into a groove this season, dropping 30 points on Kentlake last Friday in a 71-62 season-opening win over the Falcons.
• Favorite class: AVID.
• If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Symone McKernan and serve spaghetti.
• Greatest athletic moment: When my team took third at state last year.
• Most recent book read/author: "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller.
• What's on your iPod?: "Deal or No Deal" by Wiz Khalifa.
• Also noted: Bell, one of the state's top basketball players, is currently being recruited by Gonzaga University, the University of Washington, Arizona State and UCLA among others.
