Chargers jolt Lions in district playoffs; Auburn, Kentwood fall

JaQuaya Miller scored 25 points and Jordyn Jenkins had 21 as Kentridge pulled away from Auburn Mountainview on its home floor for an 81-46 victory in the West Central/Southwest District girls basketball playoffs Thursday night.

The Chargers (20-2) advance to the district quarterfinals against Puyallup (9-12). The Lions (14-10) play Auburn (12-11) in an elimination game. The time and day of each game has yet to be determined because of the weekend snowstorm that canceled events throughout the district on Saturday.

Taylor Flores scored 24 points and Jenna Lacey had 10 for Auburn Mountainview.

Jenkins and Miller controlled the boards, grabbing 10 and five rebounds, respectively.

Kentridge’s Daylani Ballena scored 13 points and handed out six assists.
