Rashon Slaughter pumped in a game-high 22 points as Federal Way defeated Kentwood 70-61 in a 4A state regional boys basketball playoff game at Puyallup High School on Saturday night.

The fourth-ranked Eagles (24-2) took the rubber game, having lost two meetings against the No. 5 Conquerors (23-3). Earlier this month, Kentwood snapped Federal Way’s 63-game winning streak in the first meeting and later downed the Eagles in the district title game.

Federal Way, two-time defending state champion, advances to a 9 a.m. Thursday quarterfinal game in the Hardwood Classic at the Tacoma Dome, where they will play the winner of the Davis-Richland game set for Wednesday, also in the Dome.

Kentwood must play Bellarmine Prep at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Classic. The winner gets Curtis at 12:15 Thursday.

Federal Way jumped out to a 37-19 lead at halftime before Kentwood responded. The Conks drew within five points in the fourth quarter but came no closer.

Rayvaaughn Bolton and Beau Roggenbach each scored 16 points for Kentwood. Koby Huerta had 11 and Darius Labom finished with 10 points for the Conks.

Elsewhere

Kentridge met elimination following a 55-49 loss to Kennedy Catholic in a regional playoff game at Puyallup’s Rogers High School on Friday.
