T-Birds lose to Spokane Nov. 6 on ShoWare ice

The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 Nov. 6 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

After a scoreless first period, the T-Birds led in shots, 14-7.

Seattle (4-12-1-2) opened the scoring on the power- play at 17:13 of the second period when Sena Acolatse scored his third goal of the season. Acolatse received the puck from Colin Jacobs on the left point and fired a slap shot over Spokane goalie James Reid's glove. Luke Lockhart also assisted on the goal.

Spokane (9-6-1-0) answered 53 seconds later on Kyle Beach's 14th goal of the season to make it 1-1. Jared Cowen and Brenden Kichton assisted on the goal.

The T-Birds outshot the Chiefs 9-5 in the second period, giving them a 23-12 advantage overall.

Spokane took a 2-1 lead at 11:24 of the third period on Blake Gal's third goal of the season. Mitch Wahl and Levko Koper assisted on the goal.

Spokane made the score 3-1 on an empty-net goal by Wahl at 18:53 of the third. Wahl's goal was unassisted.

The Chiefs outshot the T-Birds 18-6 in the third period, giving them a 30-29 advantage overall.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard (3-8-1-2) faced 29 shots and made 27 saves. Spokane goalie James Reid (7- 4-1-0) faced 29 shots and made 28 saves to get the victory.

The T-Birds traveled to Portland Nov. 7 to take on the Winterhawks at the Rose Garden. They are in Chilliwack to take on the Bruins on Nov. 8 at 5 p.m.

T-Birds' single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
