Kentwood’s Yang takes vault title, finishes fourth in the all-around at 4A state gymnastics championships

Kentlake’s Cecelia Loudermilk was seventh in the all-around

Kentwood’s Ashley Yang captured the individual vault title and finished fourth in the all-around competition at the 4A state gymnastics championships at Sammamish High School in Belleuve last weekend.

Yang posted a score of 9.625 to take the vault win last Saturday. She was sixth in the floor exercise (9.6).

Yang scored 37.250 in last Friday’s all-around chase on the strength of a second-place performance on the vault (.525), a third-place finish on the floor (9.6) and a 10th-place effort on the beam (9.2).

Camas’ Shea McGee took the all-around title (38.175), leading her squad to the team championship.

Kentlake’s Cecelia Loudermilk was seventh in the all-around.

In the individual event finals last Saturday, Loudermilk was third on the vault (9.500) and fifth on the bars (9.350).
