Talk to Glen Goodall for just a few minutes, and the excitement is palpable. Through the twang of a slight Canadian accent, the former Thunderbird phenom’s voice goes up a few notches when he talks about his upcoming trip.
He’s going back to where it all started: to the team that retired his jersey after six glorious years of making fans sit on the edge of their seats.
She grew up in a soccer household.
But when push came to shove two years ago, Kailey Ulland chose cross country.
“It’s kind of a joke with my family that I chose cross country instead of soccer because we’re a soccer family,” laughed Ulland, a Kentwood senior.
She's taking her basketball — and signature headband — and heading east.

Instead, Friday night’s showdown against Tahoma at Bill Maxwell Stadium proved to be more of the same as the Conquerors blasted the Bears 49-3 in a South Puget Sound League North Division game.
Five different Kentwood players reached the end zone – led by a pair of touchdown runs by Mikell Everette and Lonzell Young – as the Conquerors rolled up 442 total yards of offense and punted just twice.

Change can be a good thing.
That was never more evident than Friday night at French Field, where the new-look Kentlake High football team delivered its biggest win since 2003.
It was a matter of proving everybody wrong.
That being the case, the Kentlake High girls soccer team certainly got it done Thursday afternoon at Wilson Playfield in Kent.

The second-ranked Auburn High football team was given a jolt Friday night at French Field. But it was just enough to wake up the South Puget Sound League North Division favorites.
Behind a big performance from all-league running back Alphonse Wade, the Trojans (1-0) scored 21 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters en route to a 28-14 victory over Kentridge in the season opener for both teams. Wade rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
Defense has been the calling card of the Kentridge High football team the last two years.
A change, however, appears imminent.
That’s not because the Chargers can't handle themselves on defense. Rather, it’s due to the expected emergence of running back Cameron McKernan and quarterback Caleb Smith, two of the most dynamic offensive players in the South Puget Sound League North Division this season. Both were part of an offense that sputtered much of last season, and finished ranked 17th in the entire SPSL.
Changes are afoot on the Kentlake High football field.
New coach?
Check.
New quarterback?

A playoff berth?
That's yet to be determined. But first-year coach Chris Paulson, who has taken over the program from Mike Shepard, believes the Falcons have a legitimate opportunity to advance to the postseason this fall for the first time since 2003.
He was going to be the next big thing at Kentwood High. The type of running back who could outrun secondaries, and find openings when none appeared.
Power. Finesse. Speed.
Joseph Banks showed each of those traits his sophomore season in 2008, shortly after transferring to Kentwood from American Heritage Academy, which is located in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton, Texas.
