TV, by JOE: Nine Thunderbird games to be broadcast locally

The Seattle Thunderbirds and Tribune Broadcasting Seattle on Monday announced they have partnered to broadcast nine games between the T-Birds and the Portland Winterhawks during the 2017-18 Western Hockey League regular season.

All nine games will be broadcast on JOEtv Channel 22/Cable 110. Five games from the ShoWare Center and four games from Portland will be broadcast on JOEtv. Four of the five games being broadcast from ShoWare have new start times of 6:05 p,m.

The first game on the broadcast schedule is the game in Portland at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at 6pm. The first game to be broadcast from ShoWare will be at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7.

“Our broadcast partnership with JOEtv and This TV last season was very successful,” said Colin Campbell, T-Birds vice president. “We are excited to build on our partnership to have nine games against our biggest rival all on JOEtv this season.”

“We are pleased to bring the excitement of live, local hockey to Seattle fans,” said Pam Pearson, SVP/general manager, Q13 FOX/JOEtv. “Our channels are known as the home of local sports and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with the T-Birds.”

Veteran WHL play-by-play voice Ian Furness will have the call for the majority of the broadcasts.

Saturday, Feb. 10, Portland at Seattle, 6:05 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 11, Seattle at Portland, 5 p.m.

Sunday, March 4, Portland at Seattle 5:05 p.m.

Saturday, March 17, Portland at Seattle, 6:05 p.m.


Single-game tickets for the Sept. 23 home opener vs. Tri-City, featuring the raising of two championship banners, are on sale online and at the ShoWare Center box office.
