Communities In Schools of Kent had a fundraising breakfast Friday at the Kent Senior Activity Center, and attendees heard from a very special guest of honor. Motivational speaker and former NFL player Richard Thomas, a Kentwood High graduate, shared his personal story about overcoming challenges, as well as speaking to the need for programs like Communities in Schools. Thomas, a University of Washington graduate, played a season with the Baltimore Ravens. To learn more about Communities in Schools of Kent, go to www.kent.ciswa.org.
