The 13th annual Turkey Challenge is underway to raise funds and donate food for the Kent Food Bank.
Kent’s Torklift Central, a RV and automotive parts manufacturing, once again is leading the food and fundraising drive that runs through Nov. 16.
Kent Mayor Dana Ralph issued a proclamation for the event during the Oct. 7 City Council meeting.
“This proclamation celebrates the community spirit that Kent’s residents and businesses who work together to uplift their neighbors and provide hope during Thanksgiving,” said Jasmyne Faborito, organizer of the Torklift Turkey Challenge. “We invite everyone to join us in making this year the most successful Turkey Challenge yet.”
Ralph commended the program.
“I don’t know that we can count the number of Kent residents that have been blessed by the generosity of this community and the commitment from Torklift Central to making sure families have what they need for the holidays,” Ralph said.
Since inception, the Turkey Challenge has rallied hundreds of local residents and businesses to support the Kent Food Bank. The 2025 campaign aims to collect 10,000 pounds of food and $20,000 in monetary donations for families in need during the holiday season.
Over the past 12 years, the Turkey Challenge has delivered more than $200,000 and 75,000 pounds of food to the Kent Food Bank, according to Torklift Central.
