TLC Skate Center closes doors

After more than 25 years in operation, the TLC Skate-N-Fun Center on S.E. 260th Street in Kent closed its doors for the last time Jan. 31.

TLC owners did not return repeated telephone requests for comment.

According to a note on the Web, the Kent Skating Club will be merging with the skating club located at the Auburn Skate Connection, 1825 Howard Rd., Auburn (253-833-4990).

Bella Home and Garden closing downtown location

After two years of operating stores in the downtown core and at Kent Station, Bella Home and Garden owner Marci Wainhouse plans to close the doors of her downtown location this spring.

According to Wainhouse, the economic downturn facing the country has made it difficult to maintain both stores. Bella’s downtown store on First Avenue has been open for six years while the Kent Station location, which will remain open, has been open for two years.

“We just found it to be a more positive step this year to consolidate into one store,” Wainhouse said.

Wainhouse said her lease at the downtown location is up in June and she plans to remain open through May. Wainhouse added she would move all of her fresh stock to the Kent Station location while discontinued and off-season items would stay at the downtown store, where she said everything would be on sale until closing.
