Kent Shoe Company donates $174,000

of product

Wear a Big Smile – a charitable foundation of Kent-based Washington Shoe Company – donated nearly $174,000 of product to community organizations in 2016.

The foundation exceeded its goal of giving away $125,000 in product to mark the company’s 125th anniversary. Rob Moehring, former CEO of Washington Shoe, created the foundation earlier this year.

Local children received more than 3,820 pairs of boots and more than 1,000 jackets.

The foundation donated raincoats and boots to Kent Area Council PTA Clothing Bank and students at several Kent elementary schools.
