The Valley Harvest International Market, 23636 104th Ave. S.E., in Kent, has scheduled a back-to-school celebration “Healthy School Year” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

Store owners are coordinating the event to give back to the community and increase awareness of healthy, fresh produce available at its store.

Free school supplies, ethnic food samples, family friendly activities and entertainment to the surrounding community of low-income and typically under-served families will be provided.

In a time of increasingly unhealthy eating habits, especially with Washington’s youth, leaders in the Kent community are taking an initiative to educate families on packing healthier lunches and preparing fresher meals overall. As kids gear up for school, why not start educating them on eating well and eating right.
