Kent doesn’t need traffic cameras

Array

While I wasn’t able to attend the town hall meeting on Kent East Hill, I would like to voice my opinion on a couple of subjects that came up.

First, I traveled through Auburn four times a day for three months last year while my mother was in a rehab. center there after breaking her hip, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that those cameras installed at intersections cause more potential accidents than I have experienced in my 30-plus years of living and driving in Kent.

They do nothing for safety and are only put in as a money maker, despite what is said by the municipality that installs them (to make the intersections safer). I implore the Kent City Council and the mayor to not give in to the almighty dollar and resist the calls to put in cameras at specific intersections.

Second, on the subject of lingerie football. To those people who object to league play at Showare Arena, get over it. I personally will not pay to see the league play, and if anybody dislikes the league playing at Showare, don’t go to see them. If you think it is an insult to Kent to have them play at Showare, I want to warn you not to go to Lake Meridian on a warm summer day. You will really be insulted.
