Time to push for immigration reform

The Republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives needs to step up and address Immigration reform.

The Republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives needs to step up and address Immigration reform.

Cathy McMorris Rogers, who is from our state, has the ability to move this legislation. She and Congressman Dave Reichert should press to bring this issue to a vote in the House.

It is time that Representatives in Congress know that immigration reform needs to happen now. Washington residents overwhelmingly support the passage of comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship.

Immigration reform will provide a boost in our economy. Reform is needed for U.S. military personnel who are serving our country in foreign conflicts, tech workers who are creating wealth and jobs and farm workers who manage and harvest the food we eat. All of these workers make a major contribution to U.S. society and our economy.

It’s time for the House Republican leadership to act. We need real reform that balances border security and a path to citizenship here at home.
