A 43-year-old Auburn man shot and injured a 33-year-old Shelton man during a reported road rage incident early Wednesday morning, June 16 on Kent’s East Hill.

Officers were dispatched at about 7:07 a.m. to the 27000 block of 124th Avenue Southeast, just south of SE Kent Kangley Road, in response to a shooting, according to Kent Police. While in route, officers were advised that the shooter and the man shot had each called 911 and were both still at the scene.

Officers found the shooter rendering medical aid to the injured man. Puget Sound Fire personnel took over life-saving efforts.

Puget Sound Fire reported this morning that it worked with King County Medic One and Airlift Northwest to transport the critically injured man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The shooter told police that an altercation began as a road rage incident and progressed when the Shelton man reportedly broke his vehicle’s window and attempted to enter his vehicle, so he shot him. The man is cooperating with detectives.

Police also are interviewing several witnesses who called 911 to report the incident.
