Police responded to a report of a man in his 30s swearing and throwing French fries at a fast-food restaurant at about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 19 in the 23200 block of Pacific Highway South.
An officer spotted the man walking away from the restaurant and caught him after a brief foot chase near the intersection of Kent-Des Moines Road and Pacific Highway South. Police used a Taser gun on the man, in order to subdue him so that he could be handcuffed. The man swung his left arm at officers as they initially tried to handcuff him, according to reports.
Officers arrested him for investigation of disorderly conduct and obstructing police.
According to the report, the man had been sitting in the restaurant for about 30 minutes before he ordered food. When he started to walk away from the counter with the food, he banged into a chain used to keep people in line. That’s when he became upset, restaurant employees told police.
The man then threw his cup of pop on the ground, splashing a nearby customer. He then started to throw his food across the counter at employees. An officer noted that French fries were scattered all over the restaurant.
Felony harassment
Police arrested two men and confiscated firearms Oct. 20, following a report that gunmen had threatened a father and his adult son that day at a Kent apartment complex in the 10800 block of Southeast 239th Street.
Police arrested the two men, both in their 20s, for investigation of felony harassment. One man reportedly had pulled out a 9-mm handgun as he walked up to the father and son in the apartment parking lot, according to reports. The second man allegedly pointed an AK-47 rifle at the father and son from a nearby apartment.
The father and son called 911 to report they had been threatened.
When officers arrived at the apartment where the alleged gunmen were, one came out right away as commanded by police. The second remained in the apartment for several minutes before before walking out after an officer talked to him on the phone.
Officers searched the apartment and found an AK-47 rifle and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun between mattresses in one of the bedrooms, as well as a 9 mm handgun in the bottom of a clothes hamper in the apartment.
A witness told police he saw the men point a handgun and a rifle at the father and son.
Assault
Police arrested a man in his 30s for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly returned to his former workplace and punched the adult son of his ex-boss in the face.
The dispute between the former employee and his boss started at about noon Oct. 19 at a restaurant in the 300 block of East Meeker Street.
The ex-employee returned to the restaurant because he said the owner had paid him for 130 hours rather than the 140 hours he had worked before he quit, according to the police report.
The owner told the former employee to wait outside until he had a chance to talk about the paycheck. While outside in his car, the former employee reportedly turned up loud music. The owner walked outside and had a verbal dispute with the man.
The son of the restaurant owner went outside to help. The former employee then reportedly punched the son in the face. Officers noticed that the son had bruising on his face.
The former employee told officers he didn’t punch anyone and that he didn’t play loud music.
