Kent City Council President Bill Boyce, second from the left, was the guest speaker at the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on May 27 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Boyce, a former U.S. Army Ranger paratrooper, is a member of the American Legion Post 15, Kent. An honor guard led the ceremony.

Don Whittington, Post 15 commander, opened the ceremony by honoring 10 veterans and former U.S. military members who have been interred at Hillcrest the past year with a flag folding and bell ringing tribute.

The Kentwood High School Marine Corp Junior ROTC conducted the posting of the colors and delivered a 21-gun salute.
