Travelers who use the Talbot Road South on-ramp to access northbound Interstate 405 in Renton should prepare for a new configuration starting next week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will temporarily shift the on-ramp to the left and reduce the ramp from three lanes to two lanes: one general purpose lane and one high occupancy vehicle bypass lane. Beginning the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 18, drivers can expect to see this new ramp configuration remain in place for the next several months.

This traffic shift is necessary to provide crews a safe work zone to install new landscaping and widen the ramp towards the east in preparation for the next stage of construction on the I-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project. Following the traffic shift, there may also be nightly ramp closures to complete early construction activities.
