City of Kent recommends alternate routes due to stuck railroad gates

Malfunction causing long delays Wednesday morning at several crossings

The city of Kent is recommending drivers use alternate routes today, Wednesday, April 14 due to Union Pacific Railroad crossing malfunctions at the Meeker, James and Willis street crossings.

The gates got stuck around 8 a.m. and are still down, according to the City Public Works Department. Union Pacific Railroad has been notified and are in route, alternative routes are advised.

Gate malfunctions are at:

• West James Street near accesso ShoWare Center, between 4th Ave and Lincoln

• West Meeker Street near the Interurban/ 6th Ave N

• West Willis Street (SR 516) between SR 167 and 4th Ave N
