City of Kent seeks lifeguards for summer work at Lake Meridian

Applications open now for positions that pay $20 to $25 per hour depending on experience

Lifeguards are wanted by the city of Kent Parks Department for summer work at Lake Meridian Park.

Applicants should be trained and certified lifeguards. The pay is $20 to $25 per hour depending on experience. The hours vary but can be up to 40 hours per week from mid-June through Labor Day.

Interested appicants have:

• Current American Red Cross advanced lifesaving or lifeguard training certificate

• Current American Red Cross standard first aid certificate

• Current American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer certificate required

Up to 20 positions are available. Openings will remain until filled. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

The essential duties and responsibilities:

• Under the direction of an assigned beach manager, the lifeguard assists in providing a safe environment for patrons of a specific recreational area; oversees public activities; safeguards patrons; maintains order; acts in the event of an emergency and administers first aid when necessary; works as part of a team with other lifeguards; participates in the in-service training program; maintains records as assigned; attends all beach staff meetings; maintains equipment and grounds; uses corrective lenses if needed to maintain 20/20 vision when on duty; and performs other related duties as assigned.
