The city of Kent wants volunteers to help clean up five parks the day after the Fourth of July.

Cleanup crews are wanted at 9 a.m. July 5 at West Fenwick Park, 3824 Reith Road; West Hill Park, Military Road and South 244th Street; Morrill Meadows Park, 10600 S.E. 248th St.; Springwood Park, Southeast 274th Street and 128th Place Southeast; and Scenic Hill Park, 25826 Woodland Way S.

City maintenance workers will report at 6 a.m. July 5 to clean up Lake Meridian Park following the annual Fourth of July Splash.

The parks are heavily trashed each year with debris from unauthorized fireworks littering parking lots and grounds. City workers will give out trash bags for volunteers to spend an hour or two cleaning up the parks.

For more information, call the city at 253-856-5110 or go to www.kentwaparks.com and click on volunteer.
