To help unite families and friends in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Comcast announced Tuesday it will provide free calls to Japan for its Xfinity Voice and Business Class Voice customers.
For calls made to Japan by customers from March 11 through April 10, Comcast, based in Philadelphia, will remove those charges from customers’ bills.
“Our hearts go out to all of the earthquake and tsunami victims and their families,” said Cathy Avgiris, Comcast general manager for communications and data services, in a company media release. “We want to help ensure our customers with loved ones living in or visiting Japan have the means to remain in close contact with them during this difficult time.”
Credits and waived fees will be automatic, so no action is required by customers. Comcast will cover fees for calls made to both landline and mobile phones. Comcast’s subscriber terms and conditions otherwise apply.
